How Do I Overcome the Fear of This Life?

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
Fear is one of the enemy’s favorite weapons. Fear can paralyze us, silence us, discourage us, and keep us from stepping into the future God has prepared. Fear often asks, “What if God does not come through?” Faith answers, “God will be with me wherever I go.”
Throughout Scripture, God’s people faced fear. David faced Goliath. Daniel faced the lions’ den. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego faced the fiery furnace. Joshua faced the challenge of leading God’s people into the Promised Land. In each situation, courage was not the absence of fear. Courage was trusting God in the presence of fear. God does not simply tell us not to be afraid. He gives us His presence and His power.
